What to Do If You Don’t Want Thanksgiving to Be a Disaster

I’m going to provide you some useful suggestions to prevent a Thanksgiving disaster to assist you have a nice Thanksgiving Day:

Keep your expectations in check.

Be realistic, which is crucial and something I am guilty of since I do it often.

I have a habit of going with my fantasy of a great Thanksgiving Day, just to have reality smack me in the face.

Maintain a reasonable level of anticipation. It’s possible that your turkey will not resemble the cover of your favorite magazine.

Make a strategy.

I didn’t create any kind of plan. I just invited folks and did it in a hurried manner, which proved to be difficult for me. I also failed to record what my relatives and family were bringing, forcing us to double-up on several items.

When planning your Thanksgiving Day schedule, don’t forget to include a meal plan since things will become a little crazy if you don’t.

I didn’t make any plans before; I simply said okay, come eat Thanksgiving dinner at my house, and forgot about it.

When it comes to arranging your Thanksgiving Day meal, having a menu plan is a godsend!

Do it all

Due to a lack of preparation, I assumed that I would have to do everything as well. I wanted to prepare everything myself. As a result, I attempted to accomplish everything!

The good news is that my extended family is aware of my nature and is eager to assist me, which I appreciate.

Make travel arrangements as soon as possible.

I didn’t expect the route to be clogged with customers for the Thanksgiving sales activities.

When the family visits for the holidays, we try to arrive early in the day to avoid traffic.

My family does not live that far away from the airport, but we intend to go early on Thanksgiving Day, rather than during rush hour (sale event hours).

Accept assistance.

It’s OK to ask for assistance, even if it’s in your own house. Latinos like helping others, and I believe it is because it allows us to interact while cleaning.

Accepting assistance with cleaning or anything else isn’t an indication of being a bad host. People like assisting others and keeping themselves occupied.

Have fun

Have a wonderful day! Make a memory! It’s not about wringing your hands over what might have or should have occurred.

Take a moment to be grateful and have a good chuckle!

Laughter is excellent for the spirit, and you don’t want to be remembered as the cranky, busy mom at home by your family!

Remember these suggestions as you prepare your Thanksgiving Day, and keep in mind that the key to avoiding catastrophe is to plan ahead and embrace the day for what it is.

On Thanksgiving Day, create memories and laugh a lot.
